i have Irving’s works all 28 volumes 5 of which are the Life of ..George Washington. there is a note in the front of the book. under the picture of Washington at age 25

Marron: Because they keep disappearing — so I go get another pair, and then later on find the one’s I was missing in some odd place (usually our daughter’s room) and bring them back.

Oline: our basement was, I think, the prior owner’s “family room,” but it had been sadly neglected for about 40 years. We rediscovered the beautiful tile floor when we cleaned it — and the fireplace still works, though I don’t make a habit of using it, as it’s so shallow.

Brian, that was beautiful. You know what little quirk she had that always cracked me up? Every time we went to an ATM (it seemed that we ate lunch out a lot when the Senate wasn’t in Session) she would read every direction–out-loud–that was printed on the machine, or that came up on screen. Though no direction ever changed, she would read evert single one, every single time!
