This morning, Kirkus Books announced its Best Nonfiction Books of 2019 (if you’ve been watching, they’ve been rolling out “Best Books” of different genres for the last month or so) — and I was delighted to find Becoming Dr. Seuss listed among their top nine biographies for the year. Given the caliber of the other winners on the list — Edmund Morris’s Edison, Sidney Blumenthal’s All the Powers of Earth, Leo Damrosch’s The Club–I feel like the nerd who’s crashed the Cool Kids Table. And I’m really excited to be there.

...and on Instagram.Someone is VERY upset about the beeping noise the instapot is making. #dogsofinstagram #dogsNot a fever dream! Not a hoax! These are actual moments from THE 5,000 FINGERS OF DR. T, a 1953 film written and conceived by Dr. Seuss. The filmmaking experience was so awful, he quit the movies altogether. And you should watch it. #drseussI’m volunteering this morning to help get people vaccinated in this amazing building here—one of the great college basketball venues, converted at he moment for a different kind of great shot. #ThePit #GoLobos
